Shortly after we began working on Dojo Offline, our friends at Google invited us over to the Googleplex to tell us about their efforts in building an open source project similar to Dojo Offline called Google Gears. Since the release of Dojo Offline, we’ve been working with Google to make Dojo Offline and Google Gears work well together. The Dojo Offline API now works with Google Gears, providing a flexible and easy extension to Google’s API and offline platform. We’re very excited about this collaboration, and will be demonstrating this work at the Google Developer Day in San Jose on May 31. If you are attending, we hope to see you there and show some great examples of what is possible with Dojo Offline + Google Gears!

I have a question about dojo offline. It’s said that dojo offline will not use dojo.storage as it’s base platform? and ported google gears?

Bei Ajaxian stellt man mal wieder eine abgeänderte Version von RSS Bling vor, diesmal arbeitet der Demo-RSS-Reader natürlich mit Gears. Mit ähnlicher Technologie, aber meines Wissens nicht weit verbreitet war ja schon einige Zeit das Dojo Offline Toolkit am Markt, dort verkündet man stolz, das selbiges nun auch Google Gears als Plattform nutzen würde, mag sein, mag aber auch sein, dass man bei Nutzung beider Komponenten mit dem Amboss auf den Hammer zu schlagen droht. Ok, man muss es zugeben, ganz neu ist diese Offline-Geschichte nun nicht mehr und Google entwickelt wohl seit 2005 daran, hat sich also reichlich Zeit gelassen.
