Palo Alto, CA – February 25, 2008 – SitePen Inc. today announced updates to the Dojo Toolkit that allow Ajax developers to easily deploy web applications created with the Dojo Toolkit on Adobe® AIR™. Adobe collaborated with SitePen to revise the Dojo Toolkit and enable compatibility with Adobe® AIR™.

“The Dojo Toolkit is a popular and important toolkit for web application developers, and now Dojo Toolkit developers can seamlessly deploy their applications on Adobe AIR,” said Rob Christensen, senior product manager, Adobe AIR at Adobe. “We engaged with SitePen and their expert team of Dojo Toolkit Contributors to make this possible for developers.”

Adobe AIR is a cross-operating system runtime that enables developers to use HTML and Ajax, as well as Adobe Flash® or Adobe Flex® software to create rich Internet applications (RIAs) for the desktop.

“The updates to the Dojo Toolkit make it even easier for Ajax developers to create engaging applications on Adobe AIR,” said Christensen. “Ajax developers can take full advantage of the Dojo Toolkit's powerful user interface components including menus, tree controls, tabs, rich text editors, and effects libraries to build rich, cross-operating system applications for the desktop.”

“It's great to see Adobe show an increased commitment towards open source software,” said Dylan Schiemann, CEO of SitePen, Inc., and co-creator of the Dojo Toolkit. “Adobe AIR figures to be a very popular environment for web development and having the Dojo Toolkit supported in Adobe AIR from day 1 increases what's possible for web developers.”

The Dojo Toolkit allows developers to easily build dynamic capabilities into web pages and any other environment that supports JavaScript. Starting with a fast, lightweight, high-quality 23 KB Base, the Dojo Toolkit gives web application developers all the key features they need for building great web apps: Ajax, Events, DOM, query, packages, animations, and much more.

Developers can download a beta release of the Dojo Toolkit 1.1 today to get started. The Dojo Toolkit 1.1 with official support for Adobe AIR will be released in March 2008. Complete information can be found at
